Position Summary

The Marine Superintendent is responsible for supporting the vessel team in all HSSE and assurance matters.  They will ensure company policy and procedures are implemented onboard assigned vessels, review and manage all risk assessments from vessels, and ensure assigned vessels are prepared at all times for various internal and external audits.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Work with the team to ensure company HSSEQ policies are understood and implemented onboard company vessels.

  • Monitor and report on vessel compliance, and cargo transfers,

  • Participate in incident response, investigations and corrective action,

  • Attend vessels regularly to monitor maintenance, training and development of crew

  • Perform or attend internal and external audits including: OCIMF, Port State, Flag State, Green Award

Qualifications

  • Master Mariner License

  • At least 2 years sailing experience as Master Mariner on Tankers

  • 10+ years combined sailing / shoreside experience on Tankers

  • Understanding of USCG regulations & excellent USCG relationships

  • Detailed knowledge of shipping industry and tanker business

  • Knowledge of financial reporting and budgeting

  • Permanent US Working Rights

Working conditions

  • Ability to work in an office environment

  • Ability to travel to offsite locations as required

  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions

  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and early mornings as required
