USMMA KP Alumni: 2013 International WorkBoat Show Events
OPEN TO ALL GRADUATES AND THEIR GUESTS
Any graduate planning on attending the International Workboat Show in New Orleans is invited to participate in the annual KP events. This year, Rear Admiral James Helis USMS, Superintendent of USMMA and Maritime Administrator Captain Paul “Chip” Jaenichen will be the honored guests. There also will be six (6) midshipmen courtesy of the Class of 1962’s gift.
October 10, 2013 Annual social at Lucy’s Retired Surfers Bar located at 701 Tchoupitoulas Street, minutes from the Workboat Show. Times are 1700-2000.
October 11, 2013 Dinner reception for Rear Admiral Helis and Acting Maritime Administrator Jaenichen at the Westin Hotel at Canal Place from 1930-2230 hours in the Terrace Room on the 12th floor.
October 12, 2013 Special Re-dedication ceremony in Pass Christian, MS (1 hour east of New Orleans) to replace and restore the USMMA Pass Christian Cadet Corps Memorial established by this chapter in 1979 and damaged in Katrina. It was established to honor the cadets who died at sea and comprises part of the 142 killed at sea. Read more about the school at http://www.usmm.org/cadetcorps.html. A reception will follow at the Bay Waveland Yacht Club on the west side of Bay St Louis.
Friday night’s dinner and Saturday’s Memorial Service must be prepaid and booked no later than Oct 7th to give the facilities a head count.
