Mariners' Museum Appoints New Development Director
Theresa M. Soska has joined The Mariners’ Museum in Newport News as its Director of Development. Her responsibilities include oversight of museum membership and financial development.
Most recently, Soska was the Regional Major Gifts Officer for the American Red Cross in Norfolk. She has also worked for the YMCA South Hampton Roads and Armed Services YMCA of Hampton Roads.
“We’re fortunate to have a new development director with Terry’s deep connections to South Hampton Roads,” said Page Stooks, The Mariners’ Museum’s Vice President of Development and Marketing. “But we also have found someone with both an understanding of and enthusiasm for what we hope to accomplish.”
Soska joins The Mariners’ as it embarks on several new initiatives. This spring, the Museum opens its new Explorers’ Theater, along with its major 2014 exhibition, Savage Ancient Seas: Dinosaurs of the Deep.
Soska earned her bachelor’s degree in marketing from Holy Family University in Philadelphia, and her master’s from Temple University in Philadelphia. Her professional career began in retail banking, concentrating in lending, sales development and training.
She lives in Virginia Beach with her two children.
