Petrobras January Oil and Gas Production
Petrobras announces that, in January 2013, total production of oil and natural gas in Brazil reached 2.368 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed). Total domestic production, including the proportion for partner companies, was 2.455 million boed. This volume corresponds to a 2.5% drop on December 2012.
Petrobras total production in Brazil and overseas averaged 2.611 million boed, a 2.7% drop on the previous month.
In January, domestic oil production (oil plus liquid natural gas - LNG) was 1.965 million barrels per day (bpd), a 3.3% drop on December 2012. Added to the proportion for partner companies, this volume amounts to 2.010 million bpd.
The drop in output was mainly due to (i) termination of production on submersible platform SS-11, which was operating the Early Production System in the Santos Basin's post-salt Baúna field. This platform was removed to prepare for the startup of the FPSO Cidade de Itajaí, in the same location; (ii) conclusion of the extended well test in the area known as Oliva, in the Campos Basin post-salt; (iii) scheduled maintenance shutdown on platform P-33; (iv) operational problems in P-53 (Marlim Leste) and FPSO Capixaba (Parque das Baleias), in the Campos Basin.
The drop was partially offset by the startup of FPSO Cidade de São Paulo in the pilot project of Sapinhoá, on January 5th, and by the gradual ramping up of output on FPSO Cidade de Anchieta, in the Campos Basin's pre-salt Baleia Azul field.
Natural Gas Production
Petrobras natural gas production (excluding liquid natural gas) from Brazilian fields reached 64.090 million cubic meters (m³) per day, in line with the previous month. Total natural gas production, including the proportion for partner companies, was 70.809 million m³ per day.
Total foreign production was 243,436 boed, which corresponds to a 0.4% rise on the previous month. Of this total, 149,287 bpd were of oil, representing a 2.8% increase compared to December, due to a full resumption of production at Akpo Field, Nigeria, following a scheduled maintenance shutdown at the production platform.
International natural gas production reached 15.996 million m³ per day, down 3.3% on December 2012, due to decreased production in Argentina as a result of the shutdown of wells in the Aguada de La Arena and El Mangrullo fields caused by torrential rainfall, in addition to lower demand for Bolivian gas.
Official figures for ANP (Brazilian Petroleum Agency)
Total production in Brazil in January 2013, as disclosed to the ANP, was 9,386,946.65 m³ of oil and 2,313,026,530 m³ of gas. This amount corresponds to the total production of concessions operated by Petrobras. These figures do not include shale, LNG and partner output in concessions not operated by Petrobras.
