Lauded globally by industry professionals as “the place” to learn about leading-edge developments and technologies in the oil and gas industry, the Offshore Technology Conference 2012 (OTC) was recently named “The Greatest Show on Earth” by Trade Show Executive magazine. OTC received the award at the magazine’s annual TSE Gold 100 Awards & Summit, which was held 19 September, in Dana Point, CA.

“The Offshore Technology Conference is truly a marvel,” said Darlene Gudea, president of Trade Show Executive Media Group. In addition to the exhibition’s size – more than 642,000 net square feet – Gudea said the show received the TSE Gold Grand Award because, “The event achieved solid growth and earned ‘must-attend’ status in the marketplace with high exhibitor and attendee satisfaction scores.”

Since its inception in 1969, OTC has attracted more than 2 million visitors to the city of Houston and generated more than USD 2.5 billion in income. OTC also ranked 19th on the magazine’s list of mega shows. Gudea cited OTC as, “One of the valuable engines of the global economy.”

“In OTC’s 45-year history, we have weathered shifting business climates and economic conditions,” said OTC Chairman Ed Stokes, “but our support from the industry has remained constant and strong. Receiving this award is a tremendous honor, and we are appreciative of this recognition.”

Trade Show Executive is the leading magazine in the trade show industry with a 94% market share according to the Inquiry Management Systems, which tracks ad spending in more than 1,200 magazines in North America.
