Jeff Lantz Guest Speaker at Posidonia

The Director of Commercial Regulations and Standards of the USCG, Jeff Lantz will be discussing regulatory enforcement in the United States and ballast water management at NAMEPA’s EIM Seminar, “Compliance, Cost and Competency in America,” on June 5th as a part of the Posidonia 2014 conferences, seminars and exhibitions. Posidonia 2014 is the opportunity for all members of the shipping industry worldwide to meet and review challenges, opportunities, trends and innovations with the operators of more than 4,000 vessels worldwide.

NAMEPA’s seminar, hosted from 10:30 – 12:30 in the Posidonia Seminar Room on June 5th, is designed to highlight both best practices and opportunities for improvement. The “Compliance, Cost and Competency in America,” seminar features topics such as regulatory enforcement in the United States, the cost of noncompliance, whistleblowers, no shortcuts to compliance, understanding the impact of USCG and EPA ballast water regulations, Salvors as partners in OPA90 compliance and zero pollution solutions for age old problems.

Jeff Lantz’s responsibilities include developing U.S. national maritime safety and environmental protection regulations and policies and overseeing U.S. initiatives in the development of international maritime safety, security and environmental protection standards. Mr. Lantz serves as the U.S. Head of Delegation to the International Maritime Organization (IMO)’s Maritime Safety Committee, Marine Environment Protection Committee and has also been elected and currently serves as the as the Chairman for the IMO’s Council, the organization’s second highest governing body.

The seminar will be opened by Clay Maitland, Founding Chairman of NAMEPA.
