Human Rights at Sea is delighted to be able to announce that the Law Society of England and Wales has agreed to become a Supporting Entity of the HRAS initiative and its human rights work in the maritime sector.

HRAS Founder, David Hammond, said: “Receiving this superb news from Sarah Smith, the Law Society’s Human Rights and Rule of Law Policy Adviser, and particularly on UN Human Rights Day while attending and speaking at the Law Society’s Annual Human Rights Conference was a real surprise and very much welcomed. Members of the Law Society are already assisting HRAS in its development and international projects, and the support provided is yet another boost to the initiative”.

The Law Society represents solicitors in England and Wales. From negotiating with and lobbying the profession’s regulators, government and others, to offering training and advice, they’re here to help, protect and promote solicitors across England and Wales.

The Law Society Group includes the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
