Environmental Innovation Award to Volvo Penta
Volvo Penta´s marine drive system IPS has been awarded Best Innovation 2012 by the International Powerboat Association (UIM).
The Inboard Performance System (IPS) by Volvo Penta is the world´s first pod system for leisure boats and with more than 15,000 units delivered since the introduction in 2005, the IPS system is the undisputed world market leader in the pod segment .
The IPS system brings many unique benefits to the boating world, not least in terms of environmental features. Compared to traditional shaft installations, boats powered with the IPS system can reduce fuel consumption with up to 30 percent and also achieve significant reduction in noise levels.

This year, UIM recognizes Volvo Penta´s successful introduction of the Inboard Performance System. Thanks to the significant environmental features of the IPS system, Volvo Penta receives an UMI award for Best Innovation 2013.
