One Dead, Two Missing

Two sailors are missing and one is confirmed dead after a S. Korean military patrol ship sank Wednesday.

The ship was on a training mission when it collided with a fishing boat in the waters near the southern island of Jeju, late Wednesday.

Twenty-eight of the 30 sailors onboard were rescued, one died from severe injuries sustained during the collision shortly after being rescued. The local coast guard has sent several vessels and helicopters to the scene to search for two who remain missing.

Earlier this year in March, 46 sailors were killed when a S. Korean warship, the Cheonan, sunk near the long disputed North South maritime border.

An investigation later revealed that a North Korean torpedo was responsible for the sinking. The North has repeatedly denied responsibility for the incident.

Officials say yesterdays sinking appears to be an accident, however a full investigation is being conducted.
