Northern Lights Reinvigorates Marketplace with Megayacht-Quality Power Generation

Northern Lights, an industry leader in marine systems knows the world’s most beautiful, technologically advanced megayachts deserve a power generation system worthy of their elegance and strength. Debuting at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS), the M1066H is the quietest, most compact, best looking 185 kW (60 Hz) sound attenuated genset and enclosure package ever produced. It is the first in a line of totally revamped marine generator sets built exclusively for the large yacht market.

Northern Lights has been synonymous with the finest in power production and sound attenuation for decades. With a design upgrade to our solidly constructed base frames and enclosures, Northern Lights can offer a package that is 25 percent smaller in volume than previous enclosed models. Units equipped with compound mounts boast an even more remarkable 31 percent size reduction. The addition of compound mounts is simplified with the new design, lowering purchase and installation costs. This remarkable size reduction is a boon to the naval architect tasked with designing optimal equipment placement within an engine room.

Northern Lights sound enclosures set the industry standard for a number of reasons. Their robust build and world-class materials ensure minimal vibration. They absorb noise from all frequency ranges. The updated base frame and sound enclosure package on the M1066H results in significant reduction in noise over our previous, class-leading design.

The enclosure on the M1066H has multiple access points - panels can be quickly and easily removed without tools or strain. The ingenious design has reduced the number of latches from 28 trigger style to six all-stainless steel slam latches, resulting in a much cleaner look while increasing reliability and overall product quality.

“Northern Lights’ mission is to provide clean power, clear air and complete comfort to our clients,” said Northern Lights vice president and general manager Larry Repman. “The redesign of our already popular larger genset series addresses all the requests we have received from the market. The new enclosures are smaller, quieter and lower cost than our previous design, and easier to install. This is a home run for the builder and refit yard, and adds to the enjoyment of the yachting experience for end users and guests.”

This is just one step in Northern Lights’ continued evolution. Soon, all yacht-classed Northern Lights generator sets will have upgraded base frame and sound enclosure options. For the world’s best marine products - delivering clean power, clear air and complete comfort - Northern Lights is the clear choice.
