Elliott Bay Design Group's New Orleans Office Growing

Published Apr 5, 2007 12:01 AM by The Maritime Executive

Elliott Bay Design Group's (EBDG) New Orleans office has added new staff and projects. Seattle-based EBDG opened its New Orleans branch in November 2006 with the key hires of Michael Walker, General Manager, and Sam Charters, Chief Marine Engineer.

Recently joining the New Orleans staff as Senior Naval Architect is Steve McKnight, bringing with him 17 years of experience supporting the marine and offshore service industries. Steve has supported shipyards throughout the Gulf region and most recently served as Chief Naval Architect at VT Halter. An additional naval architect will join the team in mid April, and the office is continuing its recruiting efforts for multiple positions.

As a client-focused organization, EBDG opened a Gulf Area office to better serve its clients. It chose New Orleans for its central location and as a way to help rebuild the city and support the marine industry following hurricanes Katrina and Rita. "Elliott Bay Design Group is proud to be in New Orleans. In a modest way we are hoping to stimulate and take part in the re-building of a great American city" says Michael Walker, General Manager.

EBDG's total staff has grown from 43 employees in 2005 to 54 employees and is expected to reach 60 or more by the end of 2007. EBDG New Orleans is currently supporting projects for Tidewater Marine Services, American Eagle Tankers and Hornbeck Offshore.

EBDG New Orleans is located at 1100 Poydras Street, 20th Floor and can be reached by phone at (504)529-1754.
