Two daredevil co-workers, Lauren Caldwell and Rachael Mcadam, who work in the Shipping and Logistics department of the Armitt Group, will complete a Skydive on August 20th at Tilstock airfield in Shropshire to raise money for the Wolverhampton Neonatal unit.

The dive is their way of thanking the hospital for the help it gave to one of their customer’s grandsons.

Liam Wood was born by emergency C-section but was not breathing and had to be resuscitated. This took 13 minutes so he was transferred to Wolverhampton New Cross Neonatal unit which provides specialist care to help prevent further brain damage by a process of controlled hypothermia.

Liam was kept cool and then brought back to his normal body temperature after 12 hours eventually leaving hospital after 15 days once hospital staff were satisfied that there were no signs of any permanent brain damage.

“Liam is a typically active little boy who, at 16 months old, is certainly keeping his family on their toes,” said Lauren.

“Rachael and I were so touched by his story that we wanted to do something to highlight the work that this amazing Neonatal unit does. We’re both a bit crazy so we chose to do a skydive to raise some money so this unit can use the proceeds to continue to help other babies and their families,” she added.

Their target total is £800 and one of Armitt’s clients Cooper Coated Coil, a specialist metal coating business based in Wolverhampton, has pledged to match the sum.
