Aberdeen Harbour Board has completed the restructuring of its Marine Operations Department with the internal appointment of a new Harbour Master and a Marine Manager.

Captain Jeff Gaskin, formerly the Harbour’s Marine Superintendent, has been appointed Harbour Master following the retirement of Captain Ray Shaw.

Alexandra McIntosh has been appointed to the new role of Marine Manager. The position replaces that of Assistant Harbour Master, which was held by Captain Danny Stroud prior to his retirement.

Capt. Gaskin has 26 years’ experience within the maritime sector. He started his career as a cadet with Louis Dreyfus Shipping in 1990 and enjoyed spells with both PNTL and Cunard before ending his seagoing career with Vector Offshore in Aberdeen.  He was appointed as a Marine Pilot for Aberdeen Harbour Board in 2006 before being promoted to Port Marine Superintendent two years ago.

Ms. McIntosh joined Aberdeen Harbour in 2013 as a Vessel Traffic Officer, having previously spent almost four years as a Marine Pilot at Clydeport, and eight years at Maersk Line.

Colin Parker, Chief Executive of Aberdeen Harbour, said: “The appointment of a new Harbour Master and Marine Manager is a significant step for any port. The fact that we already had appropriately skilled personnel within our organization with the abilities to undertake these key positions has helped considerably towards the smooth transfer of roles and responsibilities.

“The knowledge, experience and understanding that both Jeff and Alexandra already have of the port will create a strong foundation for their new positions within the team. I believe that this will be of huge benefit to our customers, whilst helping underpin our plans for future growth.”
