The Women’s Energy Network (WEN) announces its 20th anniversary this year, celebrating two decades of providing networking and professional advancement to women working throughout the energy industry. The organization, founded by Karyl Lawson White in 1994, has grown from an original group of 6 women to over 3,000 members in 7 cities throughout the United States today.
The commemoration of WEN’s 20th anniversary will include many events and activities throughout the year, culminating in the 20th Anniversary Celebration Event on September 30, 2014 at the Bayou City Event Center in Houston, TX. The evening will feature industry expert panelists, speaking about how to advance women into higher level positions at energy companies, as well as a debut of the first ‘Spirit of WEN Award’, which will recognize an individual or company for taking the initiative to promote women. WEN has also initiated a volunteer project, ’20 Ways to Help The Women’s Home,’ in conjunction with the anniversary celebrations, to benefit The Women’s Home, which was the charity selected for WEN’s Annual Charity Luncheon in April. The project offers WEN members a variety of activities to support the charity, an organization who, like WEN, is all about helping women.
