Seaspan Appoints Robert Hedley to Senior Vice President

Seaspan International Ltd., is pleased to announce the appointment of Robert Hedley to Senior Vice President.

In this leadership role, Robert will oversee Seaspan’s marine operations including vessel maintenance, crewing and safety for Seaspan, as well as environmental management for all Washington Marine Group companies.

Robert joins Seaspan from RHBC Global Technologies Inc., a company he formed to provide consultancy services to marine, offshore and industrial clients. Prior to that, he spent 8 years at Teekay Shipping as Vice President – Marine and Technical Service Group. In that role, he was responsible for implementing technical standards and policies to ensure the safe and reliable operations of the world’s largest fleet of oil tankers. During that time, Robert established an industry leading structural inspection and maintenance program, which allowed improved planning and budgeting for dry-docks and led to significant improvements in asset availability and uptime. He also led a $3.5B new ship construction program, building and delivering 34 new vessels to the company. Robert liaised with industry legislators on operational and environmental issues, and took a leading role in the central emergency response team for crisis management and safety drills.

His 15-year seagoing career includes four years as Chief Engineer.
