MarEx Podcast:

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

Our now regular feature is a popular staple for MarEx readers on the go. Our tenth podcast recounts our January 7th lead editorial referencing the current situation with regard to setting a national BWT plan, identifying qualified testing facilities and approving suitable equipment to tackle the scourge of invasive species. The article drew healthy “click-through” traffic. Now, you can also tune in and listen.

The long awaited U.S. Coast Guard finalization of a national ballast water treatment (BWT) standard moves the nation a little closer to solving the problem of invasive species. But unilateral actions such as that taken recently by the state of Michigan – and many others – as it seeks to stop invasive species from entering its waters are anything but helpful. Find out why this sort of thing will only prolong the process now in play – and for as much as another decade. MarEx Editor Joseph Keefe, in his editorial entitled “Still Swimming Upstream: Invasive Species Battle Anything But Over,” outlines the issues for MarEx readers. Click HERE to listen in.
