NEW ORLEANS (Jan. 7, 2010) – Harvey Gulf International Marine, LLC of New Orleans, LA announced the award of a contract to Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc for the construction and delivery of six (6) 292’ x 64’ x 24’6” Offshore Support Vessels. The signing ceremony was held Monday January 4, 2010 at Harvey Gulf’s new office at One Shell Square in downtown New Orleans with Harvey Gulf, starting off Harvey Gulf’s New Year with a bang!
Delivery of the first vessel will be in nineteen (19) months, with the additional vessels to be delivered in five (5) month increments thereafter. These “Tiger Shark” series vessels are approximately 5650 DWT and are well suited for world-wide operations, meeting all of the latest Marpol and IMO regulations. These vessels will be classed by American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) with XA1, XAMS, XACCU, XCircle E, XFIFI 1, XDP2, UWILD and ENVIRO + certifications. Each Vessel will have 11,000 sq. ft. of clear deck space and cargo capacities of: 19,500 bbl liquid mud, 14,350 cu. ft. dry bulk, and 1,700 bbl methanol. Also equipped with a Converteam supplied diesel electric propulsion system with Schottel Z-drives rated for a total propulsion output of 5000KW with overall power provided by four (4) Cummins QSK60M diesel generators rated at 1825KW each, these vessels have been engineered to provide Harvey Gulf with fully integrated, fully automated Offshore Support Vessels.
