Adventures of a Maritime Archaeologist

Published Aug 21, 2016 8:00 PM by The Maritime Executive

Ocean Today has produced seven films involving host Dr James Delgado, a NOAA maritime archaeologist, as he journeys back hundreds, thousands, even tens of thousands of years to track how humans have engaged with water, from the first canoes to 21st-century tankers.

“So much of history has really been tightly kept in a little box that archaeology is now cracking open,” says Delgado. “I started in archaeology when I was fourteen. And I figured, “What could I do? What was left to be found?” 95 percent of the oceans remain unknown. So if you want to go explore, if you want to find something, the oceans are a tremendous place to work.”

The seven films are available on the Ocean Today website.
